A Maritime Radio Course has been scheduled for April, 2012. The course will be given over 3 Wednesday evenings beginning Wednesday, April 4th, with the exam on April 18th. For more information or to register for this course, please contact Dave Williams at 519-823-5143. Course Description This complete package with CD, and the new Digital Selective Calling, will prepare you for the Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Endorsement exam. To operate a maritime radio, you need the certificate. It's the law! The Maritime Radio course teaches emergency radio procedures, and everyday operating techniques. Learn all about the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases, as well as Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, (DSC/GMDSS). All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative form “automatic” radio. Secure your lifeline. Be sure that you and your family take the Maritime Radio course. Our Annual Student Night was held on January 25th. Approximately 130 people braved the mild winter weather to take part in a most enjoyable evening.
The Annual General Meeting of the Guelph Power and Sail Squadron will take place on Monday, April 23, 2012. In keeping with our 50th Anniversary activities, refreshments will be served following the meeting. Please take this opportunity to come out and celebrate our birthday.
