Messing about in boats

'The ode to boats from Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame'

Welcome Aboard

We are boaters and  active members of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons.

From kayakers to operators of larger power and sail boats.

If you are interested in Boating Courses, we would like to help.

-Why take an in- classroom course when it’s easy to do it ‘on-line’?
-Yes, you can get your PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operators Card) on- line. -  OK

But- will you have enough boating knowledge to keep you and your family safe when that unexpected emergency happens?  - Emergencies are always unexpected.

If you choose an in- classroom course, you get to ask questions when something isn't quite clear.
You  discuss boating issues with fellow students and experienced instructors.

Boaters love to share their experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly. We discuss what we did wrong so you don’t do the same. - You can have a few  laughs on us. We don't mind, we're boaters.

You get to use and understand boating aids such as a real ships compass and other nautical aids.

Of course this wouldn't  apply to you, but here is what we find with folks that have obtained their PCOC on- line, and then register for more advanced courses.
Most don't recall  basic boating issues they need to know -in order to keep themselves, their families and friends’ safe on the water. - Safety equipment required on board, the buoyage system, marine rules of the road, etc.

Approximately 85% of boating deaths occur in Canada's fresh waterways, according to a 10-year study by the Canadian Red Cross published last year. - All  preventable with proper training.

Even  small lakes can turn ugly very quickly. Our weather course will help you 'read the signs', so you can react in time.

Be prepared
Knowledge gained through in-classroom courses will ensure that you or someone in your family doesn’t become a statistic.  Check out our in- class Boating courses. We are here to help you enjoy your time on the water with confidence, and return safely to the dock.

Some student feedback:

"Mike and I would highly recommend the Boating Course* to any or all novice boaters, would-be boaters or curiously seekers."

"Honestly, Mike and I were completely blown away by the outstanding teaching and top level information we received. Thanks really goes to all your volunteers. Truly impressive!"

"Guys, I want to thank you for your great courses.  I will be putting all to practice in the coming few days;  a departure from Toronto to New York, and then on to the Azores, Portugal likely after that.  I may get few sun shots in.

Thanks again,"
